Perks

What perks are

Perks are permanent starting bonuses you pick before a run begins. They are not items, they are not equipment, and you cannot buy or change them mid-game. Each one nudges the early game in your favour: a little extra cash, a stat head start, cheaper services, a streaming leg-up.

You spend perk points to take them. The more achievements you have unlocked across all your playthroughs, the more points you have to spend on your next character.

Where the Perks tab is

The Perk Shop is a step in the character editor, the multi-screen flow you go through when starting a new game. After you choose your background, traits, names and the like, you reach a Perks screen with cards for every available perk.

  • Desktop: perks render as cards with 48x48 icons.
  • Phone: the same perks render as a compact 36x36 row layout.

Each card shows the perk’s name, point cost, and what it does. You tap to buy, tap again to refund, until you have spent the points you want. There is no penalty for leaving points unspent, but there is no reason to either.

How perk points are earned

Perk points come from gameplay achievements specifically. Your available point pool equals the number of achievements you have unlocked in the Gameplay category, which carry over between runs as a meta-progression layer.

Achievements come in three categories: Milestone, Story, and Gameplay. Only the Gameplay ones feed your perk-point pool. The full list, including which ones are hidden and how each is triggered, lives in the achievements guide.

The Gameplay category is capped at 35 achievements, so 35 is the maximum perk-point pool you can build up. (Once all 35 are unlocked the game also stops re-checking for them, a small performance optimization.)

A brand-new player starts with few or no points. A veteran who has cleared most of the gameplay achievements can afford several perks and front-load a run heavily.

There are 21 positive perks in total, costing 28 points all together, so a fully maxed-out account (35 points) can take every single perk with points to spare.

Separately, 0.2.9 adds 9 hardship perks (Handicaps), a distinct opt-in set that costs 0 points and makes the game harder rather than easier. They do not draw on your perk-point pool at all. See Hardship perks (Handicaps) below.

The perks

Costs and IDs below are from the game’s authoritative perk list (editor-data.js). Effects are described where the game’s design documents confirm them; a few perks do exactly what their name and category imply.

Hardship perks (Handicaps)

New in 0.2.9. Hardships are opt-in negative perks, voluntary handicaps for players who want the run harder, not easier. They live in their own Handicaps tab in the character creator (separate from the Perks tab) and are marked in red. They cost 0 points, so you never spend achievement points on them, and they are freely stackable: take as many as you like, including none. Every hardship you take pushes your run’s difficulty rating toward Challenge, and the heavier ones (shown as +2 below) push harder. Because they are free and always available, hardships ship on every build, Free and Patreon alike.

Hardship Effect Difficulty
Down on Your Luck All income (jobs, streams, tips) is cut by 25%. +2
Camera Shy Streaming tips are cut by 30%. +1
Low Stamina Maximum Energy is 15 lower, so you tire out faster every day. +1
Arousal Spiral Arousal rises 25% faster and the high-Arousal energy drain doubles. +2
Ruined Aftermath An accidental or ruined orgasm dumps 20 Energy on the spot. +1
Slow Burn Femininity rises 25% slower and Submissiveness 20% slower. +1
No Grace Period Rent costs 15% more, and missing it bites harder with no warning first. +1
Cage Gravity While caged, Arousal builds overnight (+2 each night) instead of fading. +2
Owner’s Property At high Femininity and Submissiveness on the Owner route, your Owner locks the cage on you himself, ready or not. +2

Strategy notes

  • The 1-point perks are the workhorses. Salon Discount, Shop Discount, and Rent Discount each pay for themselves quickly if you intend to spend money on appearance or housing.
  • Arousal Resist (2) is the standout for chastity-heavy runs. The cage drives Arousal up fast, and the high-Arousal energy penalty is brutal; halving it gives you noticeably more actions per day. See the Arousal section of stats for the exact penalty ladder.
  • Stat head starts matter most if you are chasing an early gate (a Fem or Sub threshold that opens a specific arc). On a long run they wash out, since you would have reached the stat anyway.
  • Club Access (2) skips a gate rather than discounting a cost. Worth it if you want the Club early without meeting the normal requirement.
